Topic; Probabilitstic wind energy production forecasting
Goal: to combine innovative and established concepts for probabilistic wind energy production forecasts with 0.5 to 10 days lead time
Awarded degree PhD in Atmospheric Science
Qualifications:
- degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, mathematics, statistics, physics or related fields
- independence and problem-solving skills
- overly-developed curiosity
- strong scientific computing skills
- excellent communication and social interaction skills (at least for one of the positions, which requires intensive contact with wind energy
- companies)
Funding
initially 3 years through the Translational Research Program of the Austrian Science Foundation 75% of full time salary (approx: 1.8 per month gross income)
About us:
Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics: areas of specialization include weather analysis and forecasting, and being located in a prime Alpine spot - effects of mountains on atmosphere, hydrosphere and cryosphere.
