US Scholarships: Washington Semester Program

American University’s Kogod School of Business - Washington Semester Program is inviting junior (= mahasiswa tahun ke tiga) and senior (=mahasiswa tahun ke empat ) undergraduate students majoring in Business Management from around the world to apply for the prestigious
sixty year old program of experiential learning in International Business and Trade starting August 2009. The fall of 2009 experience is particularly unique: students will have the opportunity to interact with the newly elected president’s economic team in the White House, State Department, Treasury Department, Commerce Department, US- Trade Representatives, Federal Reserve Board and US Export Import Bank. Elected representatives of important committees in the United State Congress and senior officials of International Development organizations such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and Inter-American Development Bank are also included in this program. In addition,
students will have the opportunity to meet and interact with representatives of Fortune 500 Multinational Corporations, and lobbyists of Trade Blocks from around the globe, strategically positioned in the Washington Metropolitan area. Business students may undertake an
internship in a profit or non-profit organizations and acquire hands-on knowledge and experience in US businesses and complete either an intensive research project or an elective from regular university course offerings (total of 15 credits). For three days of each week, students will participate in intellectual discussions with major players in US business and those who shape world trade policies. Due to an overwhelming demand to attend this program, and the program’s limited space, Washington Semester will accept no more than 75 students. Students are selected through the following competitive criteria: academic aptitude, English language proficiency and a well-developed career plan in international business and trade or closely related field. Full or partial Scholarships are available for both US and International students and are based on individual needs.

UK; PhD Research Studentships in Supply Chain Management and Sustainability

Queen’s University Management School is delighted to offer two PhD Research Studentships each covering approved University tuition fees and a maintenance allowance of £13,290 per annum. Commencing 1 October 2009 for three years the studentships will be in the following areas:

Supply Chain Management

The successful applicant will be required to work as part of the Centre for Food Traceability research team at Queen’s University Belfast. The PhD project will address the business impacts of integrating sustainability considerations into the supply chain on a company’s strategy, policy and operations. Empirical work will focus on the agri-foods sector and be linked with industrial partners.

Sustainability

The sucessful applicant will be required to work as part of the Sustainability and Management research team at Queen’s University Belfast. The PhD project will address a research question relevant to the field of corporate sustainability management/corporate sustainability performance evaluation/sustainable finance.

Academic Requirements

Applicants should hold a Masters degree in a relevant area, or hold or expect to obtain a 1st class honours or high 2:1 degree in a relevant subject.

As part of the application process, applicants are required to submit a research proposal, which clearly demonstrates how your experience and interests align with the aims of the research project. Proposals should be for empirical research involving qualitative and/or quantitative methods. Applications are encouraged from people seeking to pursue an academic career.

USA: SCHOLARSHIP FOR LLM IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE LAW

MASTER OF LAWS IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE LAW AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA*

The University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law welcomes international students to enroll in its LL.M. program, designed to provide candidates with the skills and knowledge required to meet the challenges of a global marketplace.

International and U.S. students complete a rigorous core curriculum, demonstrate research and analysis skills in a required thesis, and may participate in any number of practical learning opportunities offered at the James E. Rogers College of Law and through institutional affiliations, most notably the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade.

LL.M. candidates at The University of Arizona will complete a minimum of 24 credit hours for the degree. During the summer foreign students will also complete a two-unit Introduction to American Law, and a special course devoted to U.S. research and writing techniques. Most of the curriculum will involve "core" courses in International Trade and Business Law, International Commercial Law, and instruction in related areas such as Investment Law, European Union Law, Commercial (UCC) Law, Corporate Law, Administrative Law, Antitrust Law, Securities Law, and/or Domestic and International Environmental Law. Recent research projects include the development of an electronic commercial registry; comparison of and suggestions for harmonization of banking law; transportation documentation; environmentallegislation; customs law and procedures; common rules for recognition of judgments; dispute settlement at the WTO and under NAFTA Chapter 11; industrial incentives legislation in Central America; and comparative real estate law, but this is by no means an exhaustive list.

The program's LL.M. classes are extremely diverse. Students hail from all over the globe, including:

ANDRE MICHAUX TRAVEL AND RESEARCH GRANT FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES A GRANT FOR RESEARCH ON HORTICULTURAL AND BOTANICAL EXCHANGES*

Fall - Winter 2009-2010

The Andre Michaux Travel and Research Grant Foundation announces a grant program to be awarded biennially for research related to horticultural and botanical exchanges within the greater Atlantic World.

A grant for travel and research ($500.00) will be awarded twice a year for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.

M.A., Pre-Doctoral and Independent Scholars whose research is centered on horticultural and botanical exchanges within the greater Atlantic World are encouraged to apply. A tax offset will be provided to independent scholars, who are awarded the grant. Please note: The foundation is interested and wishes to support junior scholars just starting their academic careers.
