The Australian National University Master Scholarships 2011 in Engineering, Information Technology and Computing



The Australian National University (ANU) offers a range of one and two year Masters by Coursework programs in engineering, information technology and computing. Two of these programs include research. In most cases, two one-year programs can be combined. This enables international students to apply for a two-year visa. Students enrolling in a combined Masters (or double Masters as it is sometimes known)are awarded two separate degrees: the first at the conclusion of the first program, and the second at the conclusion of the second program.

You need to submit an application to study an ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science program before you can apply for a College scholarship. If you have not, your scholarship application will not be processed.

ISOPE Graduate Scholarship 2011 for Outstanding International Students

The International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) encourages students to study and/or to conduct research in any of Offshore Mechanics, Ocean, Arctic, and Related Engineering fields, or to participate in the annual ISOPE Conferences. For this purpose, ISOPE grants scholarships of $1,000 each to outstanding graduate students and entering new graduate students for the academic year 2011−2012. Three to five scholarships were granted each year. The recipients are encouraged to join the ISOPE student membership.

Each scholarship offered is a competitive one. Sex, race, age, religion, nationality, etc. are not factors for consideration. The awardees are selected by the ISOPE Award Committee vote. The committee members are balanced in geopolitical distribution. No more than one scholarship shall be awarded in the same year to the applicants from one university.

VTT is launching second international graduate school in 2011 to attract new, PhD students. We are looking for 15 new PhD students (incl. one Post Doc Researcher) that are expected to contribute to development of our prominent technological competences.

PhD students and Post Doc Researcher participate in high level research work at VTT on selected strategically relevant topics within a collaborative project environment. PhD work is done for four consecutive years under professional scientific supervision by highly experienced and competent senior researchers with PhD degrees. The PhD thesis should be finalized within the four-year period and fulfill high level scientific standards. The employment of Post Doc Researchers is for two years. The open positions are related to applied materials, services and the built environment, industrial system management, bio and chemical processes, energy, information and communication technologies, and microtechnologies and electronics.

PhD Student – Enterprise Risk Management

Our risk and reliability research has a strong background and knowledge basis in the risk management of technological systems in industry. The current research aims at more comprehensive approaches by developing methods and models to handle business risks in different phases of the innovation process and enterprise networks. The understanding on risk, reliability, safety and security issues and their management also builds up capability to support companies in developing new service business related to safety and security.

The task is to develop methods and models for total comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). The more detailed research focus can be in supporting business continuity management, in modeling of the effects of safety and security measures, or in security business development

Scholarship Details

Four scholarships are available. The grant will be divided into 4 payments: the first month 20,000 baht, second month 10,000 baht, third month 10,000 baht and the fourth month 10,000 baht.*
The tuition fee of 1 semester worth 78,000 baht will also be provided.
The grant will cover only the first semester of 2011 (August to December 2011).
* Combined total of numbers one and two is equivalent to 110,000 baht.

Bloomsbury Colleges PhD Studentship 2011 in Veterinary, UK

The Bloomsbury Colleges consortium brings together six University of London colleges comprising Birkbeck (Bbk), Institute of Education (IoE), London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Royal Veterinary College (RVC), School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and The School of Pharmacy (SoP).

The consortium is offering twelve PhD Studentships, each of three years duration, to start October 2011. The Studentships will cover course fees (at the usual level for UK and EU Studentships) and a student stipend. They will encompass a wide range of topics spanning the biomedical and social sciences, reflecting the diversity of disciplines represented in the consortium. The University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies (UKB) awards seven masters scholarships. Six scholarships are in politics and international relations and one is in law. There is currently no masters scholarship in migration studies.

Criteria

In addition to possessing an offer of admission onto a UKB programme applicants should normally have obtained, or be about to obtain, a relevant undergraduate degree at least at First Class level (UK), or GPA 3.5 (US) or equivalent.

These scholarships are open to students of all nationalities.

How to apply

Once candidates have been accepted onto a programme at UKB, they should then send a letter/email to ukbschols2@kent.ac.uk confirming their wish to be considered for a scholarship and explaining why they believe that they should be awarded one.

OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master’s degree are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2011/2012. The OFID scholarship will be awarded to support one student or candidate for Master’s degree studies. The applicant may be from any developing country, and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master’s degree studies in a relevant field of development, in any recognized university/college in the world. Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly-driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of graduate studies. Some important guidelines to consider when applying for Goethe Business School Scholarships:
Scholarships are meant to supplement, rather than replace other funding sources.
Scholarship amount cover partial costs of the program and may vary based on each individual profile of the applicant. The amount granted is deducted from the overall tuition prior to the start of the program.
Applicants for the Goethe MBA or EMFA are allowed to apply for a maximum of two different scholarships as part of their application. Applicants may only be awarded one scholarship in total.
Applicants who receive financial support from their company may not qualify for certain scholarships.
Applicants who apply for the Goethe Business School Career Loan may not qualify for a scholarship.
Applicants must decide within seven days from the date the offer letter is issued to secure their scholarships. Applicants who do not reply by this timeline will forfeit their scholarship award to another qualified applicant.

GREENET Project PhD Positions in Wireless Communication Systems and Networks

Greenet is an Initial Training Network (ITN) Marie Curie project that is focused on the analysis, design, and optimization of energy efficient wireless communication systems and networks.

It will create a fully-integrated and multi-disciplinary network of 17 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) working in 10 first-class institutions distributed in 7 European countries. The consortium is formed by 3 Universities, 3 Research Centers and 4 Private Companies. This Network will offer to a group of newly recruited ESRs a cross-sectorial environment to shape their long-term research view and get fundamental methodological tools on various research fields (such as, cooperative communications, cognitive networks and network coding).

ELIGIBILITY

The recruited researchers should be, at the time of selection, in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers (measured from the date when they obtained the degree which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate).
ESR should not already have a PhD and they should have the qualifications to embark on a PhD program.
At the time of selection by the host organization, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organization for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment. Short stays, such as holidays, are not taken into account.
ESR (regardless of their nationalities) must not have resided or carried out their main activities (work, studies, etc.) in the host country for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.
DURATION

The fellowship is awarded for a period 3 years.

The ESR will have a regular contract with the same rights and obligations as any other staff member of the host institution. Candidates should start within 3 months of the acceptance of the fellowship.

TRAINING AND BENEFITS

The Initial Training Network includes advanced scientific training, career development activities, workshops and other training initiatives for the initial research career of the involved ESRs. The ESRs will be committed to pursue the PhD degree during their work within the project, and they will have available all the doctorate program courses offered by the academic partners.

The training activities support the career development of new researchers by providing a variety of courses including project management, leadership skills, communications skills, grant writing, business development, intellectual property rights and others.

Marie Curie ITNs provide competitive financial support to the ESR including:

a competitive monthly living and mobility allowance,
a yearly travel allowance (i.e., a fixed amount of money based upon the direct distance between the location of origin of the researcher and the host institution),
a career exploratory allowance (i.e., a single payment for attending job interviews, additional courses, job fairs, etc.), and
coverage of the expenses related to the participation of the ESR in research and training activities (contribution to research-related costs, meetings, conference attendance, training actions, etc.)

The Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies welcomes applications for the following Scholarships from applicants who have accepted an offer of a place to study for a one year Masters programme in the following areas:

International Journalism
International Public Relations
Journalism Studies
Political Communications
Funding:

One Scholarship is available in each of the following areas:

Cardiff International Journalism Scholarship – £5,000
Cardiff International Public Relations Scholarship – £5,000
Cardiff Journalism Studies Scholarship – £5,000
Cardiff Political Communications Scholarship – £5,000
Qualification:

To be eligible for an award, applicants must:

Have been offered, and accepted, a place on a full-time Masters programme for the 2011-2012 academic year;
Hold a degree of at least first class, or upper second class honours standard or equivalent to that standard. This requirement may be waived for candidates with relevant professional experience;
Demonstrate oral and written fluency in English. A minimum score of 7.0 in the International English Language Test (IELTS) is required;
Be classified as an overseas student for fees purposes. It is not possible to be awarded a scholarship in addition to a full award from a separate body.
Selection:

Each application will be considered by the relevant Course Director, with the final decision being made by the Chair of the Board of Studies.

Deadline:

Once you have accepted your offer, any applicant wishing to be considered for the above Scholarships must complete the attached application form, and return it no later than FRIDAY, 24TH JUNE 2011. Applications submitted in any other format other than using the form provided will not be considered.
