CLOSTNET represents a unique opportunity for a total of 22 young researchers of any nationality or country of residence to pursue a PhD based at one of these Centres of Excellence (2 students per centre).  Each PhD will be of 36 months and will involve up to 6 months secondment  to a partner laboratory.
ELIGIBILTY
Researchers must be Early Stage Researchers – defined as those in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent) of their research career, starting at the date of obtaining the degree which would entitle them to embark on a doctorate.
Each of the 11 Partners will take on 2 students each, ie., 22 in total.
Student will be expected to begin their studies no earlier than 1st January 2010, and no later than 31st August 2010.

4. A copy of the letter of admission issued by the proposed host institution, ensuring that the programme supervisor’s contact information are indicated in the letter;
5. A realistic budget estimate covering international travel expenses, tuition fees, book and subsistence allowances;
6. A certificate of language proficiency of the country of study (if different from the candidate’s mother tongue) duly completed by an official authority, i.e. the British Council, Alliance Française, or a qualified teacher.

The Department of Digital Architecture and Planning at Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria (www.tuwien.ac.at/tuwien_home/EN/, www.iemar.tuwien.ac.at) invites applications for two Doctoral Positions for three years (2010-2013). The positions are supported by the Austrian Science Fund FWF (www.fwf.ac.at/en).

The positions are in a small research group which is being established at the Department of Digital Archiecture and Planning. Working language is English. International candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Research work will focus on the design, implementation, and validation of a space model server for ubiquitous computing and building automation applications.

Application procedure: In order to submit an application for scholarship, the applicant must fill-in the relevant application form for the respective University programme. The Politecnico di Torino offers international students The Masters Scholarships in E-business and ICT for Management for the year 2010/11 in Italy

The Politecnico di Torino offers international students the possibility to receive a scholarship and other benefits attending a II level specializing master program. The initiative is promoted by the Politecnico di Torino and the Compagnia di San Paolo.
Eligibility:
  • In order to be admitted into the second level Specializing Master program, applicants must possess a 5-year (10 semesters) university degree. Applications from students who possess a 4-year (8 semesters) university degree may be possibly evaluated by the selection commission.
  • The II Level Specializing Master in eBusiness and ICT for Management is addressed to graduate students in:
  1. Technical-scientific disciplines (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Information Sciences, etc.)
  2. Economic and legal disciplines (Economy, Communication Sciences, Political Sciences, etc.)
  3. Graduates from other fields with working experience in the themes dealt with in the Master course.
  • Up to a maximum of 30 graduates will be admitted to the Ninth Edition of the II Level Specializing Master in E-business and ICT for Management. These graduates must have knowledge of English.
  • Candidates with degrees, or equivalent, in other subjects and final year students graduating before 31 August 2010, can be admitted to the Specializing Master after an evaluation of their applications. Working experience in the field will be considered, but is not a requirement for admission to the course.
  • The Specializing Master is also open to those already working. Professional figures and executives operating in the world of Information Technology can take part in individual Specializing Master sessions to study some themes in depth that are useful for their personal education.
  • The participants must undergo a selection made by a commission made up of university teaching staff. At the end of the evaluation of the applications, the commission will draw up the list of those who are suitable, and the first 30 will be invited to participate in the Specializing Master.

Lake Forest College is committed to providing generous assistance to you, if your family is unable to pay the full cost of a college education.  In recent years, scholarship funds offered to United World College students have ranged from $29,000 to $37,000 (U.S.) per person.  Your financial aid is continued at a similar level each year (including a modest increase) if your performance is consistent with the standards of the College.  In addition, most students are also able to work on campus, earning additional funds to help pay the cost of room and meals, or for personal expenses.

Scholarship Details:
  1. Scholarships offered to students from the UWC program include the Davis United World College Scholarship and the Global Enrichment Scholarship.  Both are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.  Funds may only be used in the fall and spring semesters.
  2. All scholarships are renewable contingent on continuous, full-time enrollment at the College or an approved off-campus program.  Recipients must achieve a 2.5 GPA after the first year and maintain a 2.75 GPA thereafter.  Recipients must also meet with either the Director of International Admissions or the Director of International Studies in the middle of the spring semester each year.
  3. Loans* may be available to you as well.  If you have a credit-worthy co-signor who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident you may contact our office (finaid@lakeforest.edu or 847-735-5015) for recommendations.  If you are Canadian, you are also encouraged to contact the Student Financial Assistance branch of your provincial government to see if they offer a program for students.
  4. Work-Study* is a part-time job on campus.  It is normally offered if you show financial need and have proper visa status.  While students with F-1 status may work up to 20 hours per week when classes are in session, most students work 8-12 hours per week.  You are paid on an hourly basis, and a check is given to you every two weeks for the hours you worked.  While we do not guarantee that you will earn the full award, most students are offered up to $2000 (U.S.) in work-study funds.

Germany - Masters Scholarships 2011/12-Heinrich Boll Foundation


The Heinrich Boll Foundation offers The Masters Scholarships for the year 2011/12 to German citizens, EU citizens and students who have gained their university entrance qualifications from a German school in Germany

The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards scholarships to German and foreign1 students in keeping with the guidelines provided by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Foreign Office (AA). The scholarship will be awarded for the regular period of study.

Who may apply:
The following requirements apply to German citizens, EU citizens and students who have gained their university entrance qualifications from a German school (funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research):
  1. The maintenance scholarships which are awarded to German citizens, EU citizens and students who have gained their university entrance qualifications from a German school will be calculated on the same basis as BAföG, depending on your parent’s income and/or your own income and personal assets.
  2. Irrespective of this, an independent book grant of 80 € per month will be awarded to all successful applicants.
  3. Your are entitled to receiving a scholarship if you are enrolled at a state or state-recognized institution of higher education (university, college or equivalent) in Germany, Switzerland or in a member state of the EU. To all institutions of higher education outside Germany applies a priority of M.A. programs (i.e. applicants from international B.A. programs will be funded in exceptional cases only).

  1. If you are interested in the Heinrich Böll Foundation’s scholarship and funding programme, please send three sets of your written application (1 original with original signature and two identical copies) to the Scholarship Department of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. Selection Process:
Three stages are involved when the Heinrich Böll Foundation selects applicants for its scholarships:

The Politecnico di Torino offers The Science Masters Scholarships to Chinese Citizens for the year 2010/11 in Italy

The Politecnico di Torino offers international students the possibility to receive a scholarship and other benefits to graduate from the Politecnico di Torino attending a Master of Science program in Engineering.

Scholarship Details:’
  1. Location: Torino
  2. Language in which the courses are held: English or Italian
  3. Length: 2 years
  4. The activities will begin in September 2010.
  5. The gross amount of the scholarship is 5.000 Euro per year for the complete period. The exact net sum is dependent upon the individual tax conditions of each student.
  6. The amount of the scholarship will not be increased in case the student will need more time to graduate than indicated.
  7. The allocation of the scholarship is dependent upon the submission of the original documentation, which must correspond with the documentation attached to the application form (see the “Selection outcomes” section below).
  8. Payment of the scholarship occurs periodically. The first instalment is dependent upon the possession of the relevant documentation (Master of Science program enrollment certification, residence permit, Italian fiscal code, and bank account in the name of the scholarship recipient); for this reason, the first instalment is not paid at the moment of the enrollment in the Master of Science program of the Politecnico di Torino, but in the course of the following months.

  1. are Chinese citizens;
  2. are currently enrolled (in the 2009/2010 academic year) in the third year of the Bachelor program in Mechanical and Production Engineering, or Information Technology Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino or at the Politecnico di Milano;
  3. are not recipients of any other scholarships, Italian or foreign.

  • The MNA program is addressed to graduate students having completed a Master of Science Degree or an equivalent title in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Enviromental Engeneering, Communication Engineering, Information Technology or related subjects.

Scholarship Details:
  1. This scholarship is available for Masters Degree (24 months) and Doctorate Degree (48 months). Through this program, scholars will have the opportunity to join research projects in their field of studies such as economy, politics and security, environmental, population and health, education as well as development in Asia Pacific region. Furthermore, University of Hawaii, Manoa also offers to certify Master Degree programs in the fields of Leaership Study, International Cultural Study, Population Study and Resources Management Study.

The Center for Study of Human Rights at The London School of Economics offers The Frederick Bonnart Braunthal Scholarships to Current and prospective LSE MPhil/PhD students for the year 2010/11 in UK

The Frederick Bonnart-Braunthal Scholarship programme is aimed at combating intolerance. It supports research to this end, from any academic discipline. Current and prospective LSE MPhil/PhD students working in areas relevant to religious, racial and cultural intolerance are invited to apply.

Scholarship Details:
  • (up to) four-year award beginning in October 2010;
  • the award has an annual value of £15,000, which will cover fees in all cases;
  • the remainder of the award once fees have been paid will be made available for maintenance purposes;
  • the award is renewable annually subject to satisfactory academic performance;
  • to be awarded on the basis of potential to make a difference in and around the study of intolerance.
  • The scholarship will be coordinated by the LSE Centre for the Study of Human Rights, so in addition to joining the academic department of their supervisor, the successful recipient will have the opportunity to become a junior research associate of the Centre. They will be invited to play a part in the intellectual life of the Centre by, for example, leading a research seminar on their work.

The research degree programme at CIHD aims to provide interesting, challenging and excellent training for exceptional students so that they may successfully pursue careers in research, training, medicine, child health or public health. Students are initially registered for an MPhil, upgrading to a PhD subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Program Details:
MPhil/PhD research in CIHD normally has an international dimension, often with field work carried out abroad. The programme lasts three years, if taken full-time, or five years if part-time.  Students, with help from their supervisory committees, finalise their research proposal during the first year. This may require travel to the study site to collect preliminary data, pilot questionnaires etc.

The Emerging Markets Development Advisers Program (EMDAP), formerly known as the “Free Market Development Advisers Program (FMDAP)” was initiated in 1992. Since then, over 230 Advisers have participated in the program, providing assistance to over 150+ businesses and organizations in 46 USAID-assisted countries. EMDAP advisers — all students and recent graduates of U.S. MBA or Masters programs — represent 86 graduate schools.
Eligibility:
Applicants must:
