University of Exeter Master Scholarships 2010 for International Students


The University has up to 15 full tuition-fee merit-based scholarships for International students commencing taught Masters programmes starting in October 2010.
These scholarships are open to applicants interested in programmes from the following Schools only.
  • Biosciences (two available)
  • Education (one available)
  • Geography (two available – one each for the Exeter and Cornwall campuses)
  • Humanities (three available)
  • Psychology (one available)
  • Sports and Health Sciences (two available)
All of these awards are aimed at International students with high academic ability (typically at least an upper second class honours or international equivalent). Applicants who require pre-sessional English will be considered but will have a lower priority for an award than those applicants who already satisfy the University’s English language requirements. Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate, through their application, the potential to progress to doctoral study at the University of Exeter.
Please note that a number of programmes are specifically excluded from these Scholarships:
  • Masters in Public Administration (MPA) within Humanities
  • Masters by Research (MA or MSc), are excluded as they offer the opportunity to pursue a one year research project without a taught element.
  • All Business School Masters are excluded from this Scholarship Scheme.

Please note applications will only be considered from candidates already holding an offer (either conditional or unconditional) from the University and who are classified as an International student for fee purposes. Successful applicants will be advised of the University’s decision by 14th June 2010 including any conditions for the award of the Scholarship (e.g. degree classification). Successful candidates will need to notify us of their acceptance of the Scholarship and return their deposit within three weeks of receiving our decision.

Schlumberger Cambridge PhD Scholarships 2011 in Technological and Scientific Subjects


The scholarships are offered in collaboration with Schlumberger Cambridge Research Limited and are intended for students from developing countries who are pursuing courses of research leading to the degree of PhD at University of Cambridge.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be from a developing country and must be admitted to Cambridge through the University’s normal academic procedures. They must apply to a PhD research programme in technological and scientific subjects offered at the University.
He/she must have a first class or high second class honours degree, or its equivalent, from a recognised university. Those who are not native speakers of English are required by the Board of Graduate Studies to provide the results of an English language test and to meet the minimum standard of proficiency required for admission to Cambridge (see ‘Entry requirements‘)
Application instructions:
First submit the on-line GRADSAF form at least two weeks before the course deadline and then submit the hard copy supporting documents so they arrive in Cambridge no later than the course deadline. For non-UK students, your GRADSAF is also your application to the Cambridge Trusts if you are made an offer to study.
Students CAN apply for funding before securing an offer of study and indeed most students apply for admission and apply for funding concurrently. All candidates are advised to apply as early as possible after the opening date of 1 September 2010for admission and funding. Applications are accepted until 15 December 2010

Hungarian Government Scholarships 2010-2011 for International Students


Through the Hungarian Scholarship Board Office, the Hungarian Minister of Education and Culture offers scholarships for foreign students and professors of higher education institutions as well as research fellows who intend to gain further professional experience in Hungarian institutions of higher education or research. Scholarships can be applied for under two systems:
  • Bilateral Agreements: Scholarships are awarded to citizens of countries (and territories) that have a valid/effective educational co-operation programme with Hungary, or a bilateral agreement signed by the Hungarian Government or the Ministry of Education and Culture of Hungary and the relevant ministry of the given country (or territory).
  • Scholarship Pool: Various types scholarships are available to students from selected countries/territories.
Scholarships are available for (A) semester/partial studies; (B) postgraduate studies – research; (C1) full PhD programmes; (C2) partial PhD studies; (D) postdoctoral studies – research; (E) research stay; and (F) summer courses.

HUF 79 200 stipend per month and HUF 70 000 accommodation allowance per month, for scholarships 21 days or shorter, accommodation allowance and a stipend of HUF 3000/day. These amounts are paid by the HSB Office.
C/1. Full PhD programme (36 months)
HUF 93 000 per month, paid by the host institution, and student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder
C/2. Partial PhD studies (12 months)
HUF 93 000 per month, paid by the host institution, and student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder.
D. Postdoctoral studies,research (1-10 months)
HUF 118 800 per month and HUF 80 000 accommodation allowance per month, paid by the HSB Office.
E. Research stay (3-21 days or 1-10 months)
HUF 118 800 per month, and HUF 80 000 accommodation allowance per month, for scholarships lasting 21 days or shorter, accommodation allowance and a stipend of HUF 3000/day. These amounts are paid by the HSB Office.
F. Summer courses in 2010 (1-4 weeks)
Tuition-free courses, free accommodation and meals.
NOTE: The scholarship is meant to cover the living expenses of one person only, so there is no available financing or visa exemption for accompanying members of the family or any other persons. Neither visa related fees nor any other costs related to the grantee’s stay in Hungary shall be compensated for. Travel expenses to Hungary and back to the country of origin are not covered by the Hungarian Scholarship Board.
Citizens of all other countries staying in Hungary for more than 1 month are covered for medical treatment in case of sudden illness. Except emergency cases none of the costs of dental care are covered. Scholarship-holders staying in Hungary for less than 1 month are required to make their own arrangements for insurance coverage.

  • Men and women, who have an employment contract or employment relationship as defined by the law in Hungary cannot apply
  • Students applying for part-time or correspondence study programmes cannot apply.
  • Students applying for non state-financed universities cannot apply.
  • Students admitted to tuition fee-paying institutions of higher education cannot apply.
Age Limits for Applicants
  • 30 years for scholarships for semester studies
  • 40 years for scholarships for postgraduate studies
  • 35 years for scholarship for PhD scholarships
  • 45 years for postdoctoral scholarships
  • There are no age limits for the following types of scholarships: research stay and summer courses.

Master and Doctoral Research Assistant Scholarship Programme in Computer Sciences at University of Indonesia


In order to increase the capacity and quality of research, Faculty of Computer Science University of Indonesia, providing the opportunity for the academic year 2010/11 to a scholarship program graduate studies level S2 (Master of Computer Science/MIK) and S3 (Doctorate of Computer Science/DIK) as a Research Assistant (research assistant).
Application deadline: April 30, 2010
The requirements are as follows:
  • Prospective scholarship recipients must follow the procedures for admission as a student S2 (MIK) or S3 (DIK) according to the rules at the University of Indonesia (SIMAK UI).
  • Prospective scholarship recipients must have a Bachelor Degree (for S2 program MIK) or Master (for the S3 program DIK) from any academic institutions that have excellent reputation in the field of computer science, informatics, electronics, mathematics, or other computational sciences, with a GPA of at least 3:00. Bachelor graduates with a brilliant performance and a minimum GPA of 3:50 can also apply directly to the S3 program DIK.
  • Scholarship recipients will get exemption from payment of fees DP (1st semester: to MIK Rp 6 million, to DIK for USD 10 million) and BOP (every semester: to MIK is Rp 8.5 million, to DIK for USD 12.5 million). In addition, scholarship recipients will also receive a monthly living cost allowance of Rp 1.5 million / month (S2) or Rp 2 million / month (S3). For students MIK, this support is given for 3 (three) semesters, while for students DIK, this support is given for 6 (six) semesters.
  • In addition to their Graduate studies, scholarship recipients will be contracted to work as a Research Assistant with part-time work load, which the scholarship recipient must support research activities in one of 8 research lab in the Faculty of Computer Science University of Indonesia:
    1. Computational Intelligence, Pattern Recognition & Image Processing
    2. Computer Networks, Architecture & High Performance Computing
    3. Digital Libraries & Distance Learning
    4. E-Government
    5. Enterprise Computing
    6. Formal Methods in Software Engineering

  • Scholarship recipients must produce at least 1 (one) international journal publications based on research activities carried out.
  • Scholarship recipients do not have work commitments outside the University of Indonesia Faculty of Computer Science during receiving scholarship support.
  • After graduation, scholarship recipients are willing to work in the Faculty of Computer Science University of Indonesia for a at least during receiving the scholarship.

SPRING Singapore ’s Management Development Scholarship (MDS)
SPRING Singapore is committed to shaping Singapore ’s enterprise landscape by upgrading management capabilities in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) through the Management Development Scholarship (MDS).
MDS will provide funding at the following levels:
  • Full-time MBA : SPRING will provide grant value of up to 70% of expenses which includes tuition fees, basic stipend and other related expenses, including monthly allowance for full-time MBA scholars. The remaining costs are borne by the sponsoring SME .
  • Flex-time MBA: SPRING will provide grant value of up to 90% of tuition fees and other related expenses. The SME will bear the full salaries throughout the course of study. The remaining costs are borne by the sponsoring SME .

  • Currently working in a SME or interested in joining one
  • A Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident
  • Have 3-8 years of working experience
You will need to:
  • Apply to the SMU MBA programme and be successfully admitted.
  • Seek a SME to participate as a Sponsor Company, before embarking on the programme
  • Go through a joint selection process by SPRING and the participating SME
  • Serve a 3-month internship in the SME prior to embarking on the course if you are a new recruit. Performance must be deemed satisfactory by the SME
  • Serve a bond of up to 2 years in the SME upon completion of your studies
