Germany : PostDoc position in the field of Phylogeny and evolution of plants

The department of Botany and molecular evolution at the Senckenberg Research Institute in Frankfurt/Main (Germany) invites applications for a PostDoc position in the field of Phylogeny and evolution of plants”
We are looking for a botanist with an excellent background in molecular
systematics/evolutionary biology and with a research program focussed on vascular plants.

Experience with laboratory techniques and phylogenetic/population genetic analysis of DNA are essential. Organisational skills, a teaching record and willingness to apply for external funds are also expected. A proficiency of English is essential. Knowledge or the willingness to acquire command of the language is desirable.
We expect the successful applicant to participate in the Poales research programs of the department at least with part of his/her research activities. The position entails the supervision and management of our Grunelius-Möllgaard-laboratory for molecular systematics and evolution, teaching obligations at the Goethe-University and at the Senckenberg-school for technical assistants. Cooperation with other scientists from the Botany department, zoological departments and the LOEWE-center Biodiversity and climate is expected.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in biology (botany).
This is a temporary position at the E13 level, limited to 2 years and will be available from December, 1st, 2010. A prolongation for another year is possible.
