USA: Postdoc Fellowship on Angiogenesis at MGH / Harvard Medical School

Postdoc position at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, USA

Mechanisms of Pathological Angiogenesis in Choroidal Neovascularization

We have shown that VEGF derived from the retinal pigment epithelium is essential for ocular vascular development (Am J Path., 2005). We have also shown that anti-angiogenic factors, such as endostatin, counteract proangiogenic effects in the eye (EMBO J., 2004; FASEB J, 2007). In this project we use inducible mutant mice with targeted inactivation of pro- and anti-angiogenic factors in different cell populations, and are investigating the functions of these factors for postnatal angiogenesis in the eye and other tissues. We are using several in vitro and in vivo angiogenesis assays in this project.
