Doctor Fellowship 2010-2011 -ICSSR

About ICSSR:
Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) was established in the year of 1969 by the Government of India to promote research in social sciences in the country. The Council was meant to:
Review the progress of social science research and give advice to its users;
1)Sponsor social science research programmes and projects and administer grants to institutions and individuals for research in social sciences;
2)Institute and administer scholarships and fellowships for research in social sciences;
3)Indicate areas in which social science research is to be promoted and adopt special measures for development of research in neglected or new areas;
4)Give financial support to institutions, associations, and journals engaged in social science research;

Eligibility:
Postgraduate in Social Sciences with at least 55% marks and The candidate should have cleared National Eligibility Test (NET for JRF/Lecturership)/ M.Phil/or two research articles published in reputed social sciences journals (reprints to be attached)

Detail:
The ICSSR invites applications for the doctoral fellowships for 2010-2011, in the prescribed format. Total Number of fellowships:
Open Category : 40 seats
North East category (North East category of fellowships are earmarked for candidatesfrom North-East Region or who are registered in North-Eastern Universities) : 15 seats

Institutional Doctoral Fellowships : 76

The broad disciplines recognized for such support are: Economics, Commerce, Education, Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Political Science, International Relations, Public Administration, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology and Social Science aspects of Anthropology, Demography, Geography, Law and Linguistics. The priority areas for consideration are: (Health, Education, Environment and Sustainable Development, Information/Communication Technology, Gender Studies, Centre-State Relations and National Security).
Centrally administered Doctoral Fellowships are awarded by the ICSSR on the basis of selection through an interview to be held at the office of the ICSSR, New Delhi.

Value:
The selected candidates will be paid a fellowship amount of Rs.6,000/ per month for NET students and Rs.5,000/ for non-NET students for two years extendable by one year in exceptional cases only, plus Rs.12,000/ per annum as contingency grant. A proposal to revise the rates of fellowship is pending with the Government of India.
