Lake Forest International Student Scholarships 2011/12-USA

The Lake Forest College offers The Lake Forest International Student Scholarships to International Students for the year 2011/12 in USA

Lake Forest College is committed to providing generous assistance to you, if your family is unable to pay the full cost of a college education.  In recent years, scholarship funds offered to United World College students have ranged from $29,000 to $37,000 (U.S.) per person.  Your financial aid is continued at a similar level each year (including a modest increase) if your performance is consistent with the standards of the College.  In addition, most students are also able to work on campus, earning additional funds to help pay the cost of room and meals, or for personal expenses.

Who may apply:
International Students
Scholarship Details:
  1. Scholarships offered to students from the UWC program include the Davis United World College Scholarship and the Global Enrichment Scholarship.  Both are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.  Funds may only be used in the fall and spring semesters.
  2. All scholarships are renewable contingent on continuous, full-time enrollment at the College or an approved off-campus program.  Recipients must achieve a 2.5 GPA after the first year and maintain a 2.75 GPA thereafter.  Recipients must also meet with either the Director of International Admissions or the Director of International Studies in the middle of the spring semester each year.
  3. Loans* may be available to you as well.  If you have a credit-worthy co-signor who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident you may contact our office (finaid@lakeforest.edu or 847-735-5015) for recommendations.  If you are Canadian, you are also encouraged to contact the Student Financial Assistance branch of your provincial government to see if they offer a program for students.
  4. Work-Study* is a part-time job on campus.  It is normally offered if you show financial need and have proper visa status.  While students with F-1 status may work up to 20 hours per week when classes are in session, most students work 8-12 hours per week.  You are paid on an hourly basis, and a check is given to you every two weeks for the hours you worked.  While we do not guarantee that you will earn the full award, most students are offered up to $2000 (U.S.) in work-study funds.
