[Belgium] Ph.D. scholarship in Elementary Particle physics ? University of Antwerp

The particle physics group of the University of Antwerp has an opening available for a full-time Ph.D. scholarship.

The main topic of research of the group is the experimental study of fundamental interactions at large accelerators such as the LHC at CERN. The group participates in the CMS experiment and is active in the study of strong interaction, the search for the Higgs boson and physics beyond the Standard Model.

Description of the position:

You conduct research and prepare a doctoral dissertation in the field of experimental particle physics
You mentor bachelor and master students in developing their thesis subject
You contribute to the general education tasks of the Physics department

Profile:

You have a masters’ degree in Physics or Applied Sciences
You can present excellent grades
offer:

A Ph.D. scholarship for a period of two years, with one possible extension of two years after a positive evaluation
Starting date for the scholarship is 01 October 2010
