USA; Postdoctoral Fellow in Biomolecular NMR / Structural Immunology

The Baker lab at the University of Notre Dame has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow in biomolecular NMR. Project goals are to study the influence of molecular flexibility in the cross-reactivity and specificity of T cell receptors of the cellular immune system (see Armstrong and Baker (2008), Biochem J 415, 183-196). A PhD in biochemistry, biophysics or related area is required, as is a strong record of research accomplishments. Training and experience in protein NMR strongly desired. Some immunology background will be helpful but not necessary. Willingness to engage and collaborate with other structural biologists, biophysicists and immunologists in the laboratory is also necessary.

For example, characterizations of flexibility will be related to crystallographic structures, measurements of binding kinetics and thermodynamics, and functional assays reporting on specificity, cross-reactivity, and antigen potency. More information can be found at the laboratory website at http://www.nd.edu/~bakerlab. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is superbly equipped for biomolecular NMR, with multiple spectrometers dedicated for protein research, including an actively shielded 800 MHz Bruker instrument with a cryoprobe.

To apply: Please forward a CV, a statement of research accomplishments, and reprints of published work to Dr. Brian M. Baker at brian-baker@nd.edu. Also arrange to have three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address. Inquiries welcome by email or phone at (574) 631 9810.
