Founded in 1917 and later was named after entrepreneur John M. Olin, Olin now has been one of the leading business schools in the United States. Olin is part of Washington University in St. Louis. There are three MBA programs presented in Olin:

• MBA Program
  Within this two-year full-time MBA Program, students experience the applied learning in the classrooms, students clubs, extra-curricular activities as well as courses developed by our Center for Experiential Learning (CEL)—a center for experiential learning that links students with firms, non-profit organizations and entrepreneurs– from multinational companies to local business. CEL might help you delve into a wide range of options for the students’ career in the near future. • EMBA Program
  The average age of students of this programs are ranged between 37-40 years old. They are mid-to upper-level managers with ten or more years of working experience—although Olin requires only seven years of managerial or professional work experience. They are part of this program’s strength, besides the supportive environments, dedicated faculty members and curriculum aimed to prepare managers to look forward to, recognize and welcome all challenges. The class consists of 45-50 executives. The program comprises 3 intensive years where students learn more about their classmates’ strengths and help others prevail over their weaknesses. Olin offers students international partnerships with leading universities in Shanghai, London and Brazil. This is a great experience for a global perspective. The EMBA Program provides the chance for the former students to remain in touch with Olin. Therefore it has a strong Executive MBA Alumni Association that supports activities such as happy hours, lunches at Whittemore House, and a golf outing as well as an annual reception for alumni and guests. Tuition for the Executive MBA Program that starts in September 23, 2007, is $83,900 and for that begins April 13, 2008 is $83,900.
• PMBA Program
  Professionals who wish not to sacrifice their career are able to join the Professional MBA Program of Olin. The flexibility helps students manage work and personal life well—courses are held from Monday to Thursday started at 6.15 p.m. and ended at 9.15 p.m—with at least two evenings each week. Most students finish their study in average of just over 2,5 years. Olin requires 54 credits from the students until they graduate. The tuition for academic year of 2007-8 is $1150 per credit hour.

Bristol University International Taught Postgraduate Scholarships 2010

There are ten £2,000 scholarships available to international taught postgraduate students (overseas fee payers) from any country.

Guidelines for applicants and application form

Founded in 1872, and receiving its Royal Charter in 1909, the University has had plenty of time to build and maintain its strong reputation as a teaching and research institution. If you’d like to know more, we have a brief history of the University online.

• Applicants must have applied for a Taught Postgraduate programme at the University of Bristol when they submit a scholarship application.
• Conditional offer holders may apply for the scholarship but an award can only be made if conditions are met.
• The deadline for scholarship applications is Friday 28 May 2010 for the September 2010 academic year. Applicants must ALSO apply for an academic place by this date.
• The scholarship application must be typed (or reasons for not doing so given) and must be a piece of original work signed by the applicant. Essays must be of between 500 and 600 words. Checks may be made for plagiarism.
• All scholarship applicants must agree to provide a student profile to be used in publications for the purposes of marketing the University of Bristol.
• Current University of Bristol masters students are not eligible to apply.
• Applicants who defer entry must apply for the academic year in which their studies will start.

Heinrich Boll Foundation Bachelor, Master and PhD Scholarships for International Students

The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards scholarships to German and foreign students in keeping with the guidelines provided by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Foreign Office (AA). The scholarship covers Bachelors, Masters, and PhD studies.

Eligibility:
The following general requirements apply to foreign applicants (except EU citizens) who wish to study in Germany:

• You must be enrolled at a state-recognized university or college (e.g. Fachhochschule) in Germany at the time the scholarship payments begin.
• You should provide proof that you have already graduated with an initial professional qualification. This programme mainly supports students aiming for a Masters degree.
• You need a good knowledge of German, and we kindly ask you to provide proof of your proficiency. Please note that the selection workshop (interviews, group discussions) will normally be in German. Exceptions (interview in English) are, however, possible.
• Unfortunately, the current guidelines specify that we can not support foreign scholarship holders for stays abroad in third countries for more than four weeks.

International Student Master Scholarships at UCL Centre for International Health and Development

CIHD is an interdisciplinary collaboration of leading academics working on health and development in a global context. We are based at the Institute of Child Health within University College London and work closely with the UCL Institute for Global Health
Our main research themes are:

• maternal and newborn health
• nutrition and livelihoods
• early childhood development
• disability and children in difficult circumstances

Cross cutting topics include HIV prevention and treatment, the evaluation of community interventions, and the analysis of health systems and policies.

Belgium : EU PROJECT ASSISTANT COORDINATOR-RESEARCH ENGINEER OR POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

The research group Measure, Model, and Manage Bioresponses (M3-BIORES) headed by Prof. Daniel Berckmans in Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) is one of the leading groups in monitoring and control of bioresponses. The research objective is to measure on-line biological responses of living organisms and to predict their dynamic response in order to monitor and control their well being, health and performance.

EU Project Assistant Coordinator – Research Engineer or PostDoctoral Fellow

The title of the project is: 'Training in Research, Product Development, Marketing and Sales in Biobusiness’ in EU’s 7^th Framework Programme: Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (More info: www.bio-business.eu ).

Project description and tasks:

Biobusiness project has the objective to train people with a biological background in research and development to realise high-tech products. The products aimed for are close related to ‘Precision Livestock Farming’: measuring real time signals (sound and image information, sensors on animals) and using this information for health and welfare monitoring. The project is set up and conducted in close collaboration with 7 European Universities and Institutions and 3 commercial companies. The total project recruits 11 early-stage researchers where 6 of them will work on collection of data from experimental installations and field experiments, 3 of the researchers will work on product development and 2 will work on developing algorithms and modelling of the collected data. The candidate will be responsible in assisting the coordination of the project together with the official coordinator, Prof Daniel Berckmans. He/she will follow up scientific progress as well as administrative and financial aspects of the project. He/she will work in an international environment within a research lab and will be travelling frequently to the other project partner institutions.

Requirements:

He/She must have a PhD degree (agriculture, bio-engineering, physics, mathematics, or another relevant field). Experience of promoting PhD students and developing fund raising proposals are essential. This post requires a combination of scientific expertise in the domain of bio-engineering / agricultural sciences / animals sciences, knowledge of the EU funding, communication, networking and interpersonal skills. Experience of managing/coordinating large and complex multi-partner projects, working on (or within) EU and a track record in successful lobbying and advocacy, networking and higher level representation are plus points. He/She must be able to speak and write English fluently. Working knowledge of the MATLAB programming environment is an advantage.

Place of work will be Leuven, Belgium.

Salary will be based on the fee of research engineer / postdoctoral researcher at university level.

UK : Frederick Bonnart-Braunthal Scholarship

The Frederick Bonnart-Braunthal Scholarship programme is aimed at combating intolerance. It supports research to this end, from any academic discipline. Current and prospective LSE MPhil/PhD students working in areas relevant to religious, racial and cultural intolerance are invited to apply.

Structure

• (up to) four-year award beginning in October 2010;
• the award has an annual value of £15,000, which will cover fees in all cases;
• the remainder of the award once fees have been paid will be made available for maintenance purposes;
• the award is renewable annually subject to satisfactory academic performance;
• to be awarded on the basis of potential to make a difference in and around the study of intolerance.

The scholarship will be coordinated by the LSE Centre for the Study of Human Rights, so in addition to joining the academic department of their supervisor, the successful recipient will have the opportunity to become a junior research associate of the Centre. They will be invited to play a part in the intellectual life of the Centre by, for example, leading a research seminar on their work.

Title
A system for automatic monitoring of human effectiveness on a tugboat (SAFETUG)

Project description and tasksThe port of Antwerp is the 2nd largest port in Europe and the 8th largest container port in the world. Its’ unique position in the centre of Europe along with its speed and reliability make it a popular destination for a large number of cargo ships. Of crucial importance for efficiency and safety in this process is the assistance that tugboats provide to the large cargo ships.

However, there is currently no solution available that can measure online the efficiency of the tug boat captain in performing the boat manoeuvres. In order to reduce the captain performance-related accidents, there is a big need for a system that can identify ineffectiveness of the tug boat crew and act in order to prevent accidents. It is the aim of this project to develop such continuously monitoring and early warning system. The approach will be based on image analysis and analysis of biological responses (such as Heart Rate, Skin Conductance, etc.).

The tasks of the researcher will include setting up of the experiments both in a boat simulator and a real tugboat. Data analysis and mathematical modelling in order to develop models that can be used for monitoring and prediction of the captain’s performance in terms of concentration, sleepiness and stress (human effectiveness).

The research will be conducted in close collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and two industrial partners, an established tugboat operator and a young, high-tech university spin-off.

Candidate profile
The candidate must have a master’s or equivalent degree in (bio-) engineering (electrical, computer, civil, mechanical, bio-mechanics, medical technology etc.), physics, mathematics or other relevant field.

The candidate should be willing to obtain a PhD degree in the field of bio-engineering. Reporting the project results in international peer reviewed journals is a major task.

The candidate must be able to speak and write English.

Working knowledge of MATLAB, experiences in image processing and/or mathematical modelling are an advantage.
