[Japan] ETS Launches TOEFL� Scholarship Program in Japan

US$40,000 in Scholarships Available Specifically for Japanese Students

Princeton, N.J. (December 9, 2010) — Educational Testing Service (ETS), the creator of the TOEFL® test, announced the TOEFL Scholarship Program in Japan which will recognize academic excellence by TOEFL test takers. The 2011 TOEFL Scholarship Program will issue awards valued at US$40,000.

A total of 10 TOEFL scholarships will be awarded to Japanese students demonstrating academic excellence. Ten US$4,000 scholarships will be presented to Japanese students for academic study in 2011 at a college or university listed in the TOEFL® Destinations Directory, including institutions in Australia, Canada and the United States. TOEFL scholarship winners will be notified in May 2011.

"The newly announced TOEFL 2011 Scholarship Program in Japan honors English language learners who have demonstrated a strong academic record and assists students in meeting their future educational goals. To be eligible for a TOEFL scholarship, applicants must currently live in Japan, begin undergraduate or graduate study in 2011 at a college or university listed in the TOEFL Destinations Directory, possess a valid TOEFL score, hold a grade point average of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale, and submit a completed application form with a written essay and official transcript. Completed applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2011.
