Spain: Postdoctoral Scientist Position at IMDEA Energía to work on Concentrating Solar Thermal Power Technologies and Applications

IMDEA is a network of research centres promoted and recently created by the Regional Government of “Comunidad de Madrid” in Spain. This new institutional framework is aimed to put together public and private supports for science and to lead scientific research towards excellence by creating a framework that will be appealing for international talented scientists. IMDEA Energía Institute develops R&D activities in energy-related themes, with main emphasis in renewable energy and clean energy technologies. The ultimate goal will be to achieve outstanding scientific and technological contributions for reaching a sustainable energy system.

The Solar Energy R&D Group of IMDEA Energía is developing the science and technology for the production of electricity and chemical energy carriers using concentrated sunlight at high temperatures and high solar flux.

The Solar Energy Group of IMDEA Energía is opening a Postdoctoral Scientist Position on Concentrating Solar Thermal Power Technologies and Applications, with the following characteristics:

Your Tasks:

• Research and development in the field of high temperature solar technology.
• R&D on solar thermal concentrating systems and/or high temperature solar receivers/reactors.
• R&D work for national and international research projects on CSP.
• Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals.
• Supervision of doctoral students.

Your Qualification:

• Ph.D. degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or Material Sciences, or a related area
• Solid background in optics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
• Background on CSP technologies
• Fluent in English.

Location: Móstoles, Madrid, Spain.

Remuneration: Between 28,000-40,000 € per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.

Duration: Up to 4 years.
