[Australia] The 2009-2010 Scholarship in Bachelor of International Hotel Management at International College of Hotel Management, Adelaide

The International College of Hotel Management is pleased to offer scholarships for July 2009 and January 2010 entry. The scholarships are open to all nationality.

Application deadline:

• 1st May 2009 for international student other than New Zealand
• 13th October 2009 for New Zealand student
• 2nd October 2009 for Australia student

  ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Open to all international students studying outside Australia; international students undertaking an English course in Australia; international students who have completed less than two years high school in Australia. International students who finish high school in Australia including the last two years must apply for the Australian Entry Scholarships.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old at the time of commencement with ICHM.
  • Maximum age 22 at time of application.
  • Will complete/graduate in 2009 or have recently completed/graduated their final year of high school studies. Results must meet ICHM Academic Entry Requirements (refer to ICHM Prospectus or website).
  • For students whose mother tongue is other than English, IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 550. (Paper based; computer & internet also acceptable)
  • Open only to new students seeking entry into Year 1.

  SCHOLARSHIP VALUE

  The value of each scholarship is A$15,000 to be paid in the following manner:-

  • Year 1 A$4,000
  • Year 2 A$4,000
  • Year 3 A$4,000
  • Year 4 A$3,000

    - Your response to 4 short-answer questions found on the reverse of the Application Form page..
  • Brief CV (not more than one page in length)
  • Copies of your school reports for Year 11 and 12.
  • ICHM application form (unless an application to attend ICHM has already been forwarded).
  • Evidence of English language ability (e.g. IELTS/TOEFL)

All sections (except for the medical form which can be submitted at a later date) must be completed and submitted along with the Scholarship form and details.

  SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION PROCESS

  All ICHM Scholarship winners will be chosen by the ICHM selection panel in Adelaide, based solely on the strength of their full written application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. ICHM may also request additional information to assist them with their final decision.

  Based on the applications received, the winners will be selected as those most likely to excel at Hotel Management.
  Scholarship winners will be notified by May 15.

  The value of the scholarship is A$25,000 to be paid in the following manner:-

  • Year 1 A$7,000
  • Year 2 A$7,000
  • Year 3 A$7,000
  • Year 4 A$4,000

  Eligibility Requirements

  • New Zealand residents.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old at the time of commencement with ICHM.
  • Maximum age 20 at time of application.
  • Will complete in 2009 or have recently completed Year 13 or equivalent international schooling.
  • Open only to new students seeking entry into Year 1.
  • For students whose mother tongue is other than English, IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 550 (paper based; equivilent computer and internet scores acceptable).

  Important Dates

  Applications close on Tuesday 13th of October 2009. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered for this scholarship. Finalists for interviews will be advised by fax, email or post by the first week of November 2009. Where possible, interviews will be conducted during late November/early December 2009 and winners advised immediately thereafter.

  Up to 4 New Zealand finalists will be invited to an interview in Auckland and an economy airfare to a maximum cost of NZ$500 per applicant. The balance will be paid by the applicant. ICHM is offering a number of scholarships in Australia.

  New Zealand applicants will only be considered for this scholarship if they obtain a “shortlist” score equal to or better than the 10th best applicant in Australia.

  If selected for a finalist interview, students must immediately:

  • Undergo the required medical examination using the form from the ICHM Application.

  Eligibility Requirements

  • Citizens of Australia, both resident and non-resident. International students attending schools in Australia who complete a mimimum of the last two years of their high school studies in Australia. Students attending Australian International Schools in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia are also eligible to apply.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old at the time of commencement with ICHM.
  • Maximum age 20 at time of application.
  • Will complete in 2009 or have recently completed Year 12 or equivalent international schooling.
  • Open only to new students seeking entry into Year 1.

  Application Form

  CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  Students who meet the scholarship eligibility criteria and ICHM entry requirements for either the July 2009 or January 2010 intakes can apply for a scholarship. Students who have already applied and been accepted by ICHM for these intakes may also apply by completing the Scholarship Application form.

  ICHM reserves the right to request winners to commence in the January 2010 intake, unless the applicant has already been accepted into the July 2009 intake with a paid New Student Fee by the scholarship closing date.

  ICHM reserves the right to reduce the value of scholarships if there are less than ten applicants.

  The tuition fees for international students starting in 2009 are A$21,300. In addition there is a one-time New Student Fee of A$1,500. The 2009 cost for Accommodation & Meals at ICHM is $7,250, payable during on-campus semesters and subject to availability. These scholarships can only be applied to the tuition fees. 2010 fees will be set by mid 2009.

  The A$50 Scholarship Application Fee is non-refundable, this applies to successful and unsuccessful applicants. It is also not considered as part of the New Student Fee or Course Fees.

  The scholarship amount will be credited against the final fee payment each year.

  The Selection Panel may decide to increase the number of scholarship winners by reducing the scholarship amount.

  Payment of the scholarship amount on behalf of the student for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of the course will be dependent upon satisfactory academic results and industry placement performance as determined by the ICHM Academic Board.

  The awarding of the Scholarship payment each year depends on the student paying the balance of the student fees by the due date as set out in the Application Form contained in the prospectus. Students failing to pay the balance of fees by the due date will forfeit the right to their scholarship.

  The Scholarships are open to new first year students only. Students currently studying at ICHM are ineligible.

  Scholarship students failing to comply with the ICHM rules and regulations in relation to personal and ethical behaviour will forfeit their entitlement to the scholarship.
