[Turkish] Turkish Government Scholarship 2010-11 for Indian Students

Applications are invited from Indian National residing in India on plain paper in the format given at the end for the award of Turkish Government Scholarships for 2010-2011 which are as follows:

Research Scholarship (Four)

Information About The Scholarships

Research scholarship are granted for those who will do scientific research in their field of interest in Turkish Universities (Subjects: (i) Agriculture (ii) Biotechnology (iii) Environmental Engineering);

Duration of the scholarships is for two to eight months;

Scholarship will start on 1st October, 2010.

Travel expenses to and from Turkey will be met by the Scholars/Students themselves;

The Turkish Government will meet the school fees, dorm fees and medical care expenses for scholars (except for long-term illnesses, serious surgical operations, prosthesis, jaw orthopedics, orthodontics, and tooth prosthesis).

Monthly Scholarship is 220 New Turkish Lira (i.e. Rs.6590/- approx.). The rate of monthly payments for the academic year 2010-2011 will be further revised.

Qualifications:

The candidate:

Should have completed graduate programmes lasting at least four years before 30.4.2010 minimum 60% marks in relevant subjects;

Should have fluent communication skills in at least one Language i.e. Turkish, English or French Languages;

Should be medically fit;

Age: Below 40 years as on 30.4.2010.

Research proposals/specific work to be undertaken (in separate sheet) to be furnished.

General Instructions

Applications received after last date will not be entertained.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

The selected candidates will avail of scholarships in all cases. Therefore, an undertaking that he/she will not refuse the offer should be sent in duplicate along with the application.

Applications of candidates who reside abroad will not be entertained.

Candidates who have already been abroad for study/specialization/training either on scholarship or on their own for a period exceeding six months are eligible to apply if they have been in India for at least two consecutive years after their return from abroad.

The Candidates would have sufficient knowledge of the geographical situation and cultural heritage of India and Turkey.

Candidate can apply only for one subject.

The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final. However, final selection rests with the donor country.

Candidates who do not possess the requisite qualification need not apply.

No canvassing in any form will be entertained.

No application form will be provided by the Ministry.

Applications must be accompanied by attested copies of certificates regarding date of birth, diplomas, degrees, mark-sheets in respect of all the examinations passed alongwith experience certificate of Employment and one copy of recently taken passport size photograph with signature (to be pasted on the application form). Self attested certificates will not be accepted.

To Western Balkans and Turkey students: Scholarships for a European Master’s Course in MathMods (Mathematical Modelling in Engineering)
Job Description : Several Erasmus Mundus scholarships are offered by the European Commission to both non-European and European students to attend MathMods MSc course. Two scholarships are exclusively dedicated to students from Western Balkans and Turkey.
The deadline for Western Balkans and Turkey students is January 24, 2010.
MathMods is a two-year Master of Science (MSc) programme (120 ECTS) within 5 European universities, providing students with a cross cultural education while getting acquainted with both theory and applications of mathematical modelling in engineering.
The MathMods Master’s degree course will be given in four semesters. Each semester will total 30 ECTS credits. Mobility scheme will provide for at least two locations. The first year will be common for all students. This will guarantee an equal knowledge platform for all of them. The second year will be divided into five tracks, which reflect the partners’ field of excellence. Students will spend their fourth semester on preparing their Master’s Thesis.
* First semester: Theory (UAQ)
* Second semester: Numerics (at either UNSA or UHH)
* Third semester: Applications (UAB / UHH / UAQ / GUT / UNSA)
* Fourth semester: Thesis (UAB / UHH / UAQ / GUT / UNSA)
Language.
The language of the whole course will be exclusively English at each of the five universities. Students will also have to attend a local language course during the semester they are spending in each university partner.
Admission criteria. Applicants must have obtained a recognized Bachelor’s Degree (BS, BSc, SB, etc.) – or a degree at the level of a Bachelor’s Degree, for instance its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of high standing, or 180 ECTS credits in the European system – in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering with a large background in Mathematics.
All applicants whose native language is not English are required to prove a satisfactory level of spoken and written English, certified by TOEFL (550 points), IELTS (6.0 points) or equivalent.

[Korea] KT&G Foundation Scholarships 2010 for Master Degree

The KT&G Foundation offers scholarships to the Turkish, Iranian, Russian, Kazakhstani, Indonesian students who seek a master’s degree at the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) of Yonsei University:

Terms of Fellowship

The scholarship covers a maximum of 24 months (2 years), from March 2010 to February 2012. Students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0/ 4.3 every semester to maintain fellowship eligibility.

Scholarship Details
Tuition fee: The KT&G Foundation will provide tuition fee for Spring 2010 through Fall 2011 (up to 4 semesters).

Stipend: The KT&G Foundation will provide a monthly stipend of KRW 1,000,000(= USD 892) for up to 24 months.

Obligations
Participation in a field trip, a roundtable conference prepared by the Foundation

Participation in events and activities upon request from the school or the foundation

Submission of a report on your life in Korea two months prior to your graduation and a copy of your Master’s thesis

KT&G Fellowship recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.3 scale in order to retain their scholarship. If they fail in this requirement at any time, their scholarship will be cancelled and they will be ineligible to receive it again in further semesters.

If a KT&G Fellowship recipient decides to withdraw from their program of study they must pay the KT&G Foundation the full amount of the scholarship received up to the time of withdrawal.

Eligibility and Conditions
Degree: A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree.
Age : No limit
Health: Applicants must be in both sound physical and mental health.

English Language Proficiency: Applicants must possess strong English language proficiency (Recommended score of TOEFL CBT 237 (IBT 93/PBT 580), IELTS 6.5 or above).

Arrival in Korea: Scholarship recipients must arrive in Korea by February 23, 2010 and must attend the new student orientation program on February 24, 2010 at Yonsei GSIS.

Application Period: All necessary documents must be submitted to the Yonsei GSIS office between September 1, 2009 ~ November 30, 2009. All original documents should arrive at the GSIS office by this date.

[Netherlands] HSP Huygens Scholarship Programme 2010-2011


One of the important documents you need to sent with your HSP Huygens application is an official HSP Huygens nomination letter, written by Leiden University. The faculty of your study program should, based on the HSP Huygens requirements, agree with your candidacy for a HSP Huygens Scholarship. If they don’t, Leiden University will not provide you with a HSP Huygens nomination letter. This means that you cannot apply for a HSP Huygens scholarship.
For whom?

  • Excellent students from all nationalities in the final phase of their bachelor’s studies
  • Excellent students from all nationalities who are studying towards a master’s degree.
  • PhD applications can only be accepted from excellent students with the Croatian or Turkish nationality
  • Starting date-September 2010 or February 2011
  • Period-minimum 6 months, maximum 24 months

Students who have already submitted their online application and students who are already enrolled can request a HSP Huygens nomination letter by sending an email to scholarships@io.leidenuniv.nl. Please mention your Student ID number (See your online application) in the e-mail. We will then adjust the scholarship page in the online application.

Postdoctoral Fellow

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Dr. Ergun Simsek, in the Faculty of Engineering at Bahcesehir University, Istanbul, TURKEY. The aim of the project is development of fast algorithms for plasmonic structures.

A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or a related field is required. The successful candidate should bring experience, enthusiasm and dedication to the group. A strong drive to succeed in computational photonics research is essential. Relevant areas of expertise includes optoelectronic materials and nanophotonics.

Applications should contain: a curriculum vitae (CV), full list of publications, copies of relevant publications, a letter (one-page maximum) describing their strengths for the research project, and names and contact details for three people who may be asked for references.
