Luxembourg : Post docs-Satellite Systems, Legal and Regulatory Challenges

The University of Luxembourg seeks outstanding researchers for the recently formed Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) http://ping.fm/Q57Ll , carrying out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) systems and services. Research is conducted in close collaboration with industrial partners. SES S.A. http://www.ses.com is one of our cooperation partners supporting a research program in Satellite Systems which includes the analysis of legal and regulatory challenges in satellite communications.
The Centre invites applications for:
Research Associates (Postdoc) positions in law (m/f)

Area

Topics of research will be diverse and include
the field of telecommunications law with network-related issues such as neutrality
the field of data protection and privacy
the field of space law with the legal framework for orbital activities
the field of private and public law with third party liability-issues
the field of European law with competition law-related issues
the field of international law with the relevance of the World Trade Organization
All of these will include an interdisciplinary and application-oriented approach as well as touching issues of several fields in each individual research theme.

Tasks

A successful candidate will conduct research in one or more of the centre projects and assist in the development of the SnT project portfolio.
Profile

Applicants should therefore have an excellent background, a PhD (or be near completion) or equivalent in law and ideally specialised knowledge in one of the above-mentioned fields and an interest to extend their research integrating economic and technical issues in cooperation with other members of the team in the Research Program on Satellite Systems. The candidate should have a strong research and publication record relevant to the field.
Language skills

Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
Knowledge of French, German or Luxembourgish is desirable.

Fixed-term employment contract of 2 years that may be extended up to a 5 years.
