School of Education Research Degree Scholarships 2010/11-London


The Leeds University presents The School of Education Research Degree Scholarships for the year 2010/11 to International, Home and EU students in London


Taught and research postgraduate degree courses are available at The School of Education at the Leeds University to International, Home and EU students.

Eligibility:

Candidates must have received an offer of a study place for a postgraduate research degree in the School of Education and met all the normal entry requirements.

Scholarship Details:

  1. The School of Education is offering up to 6 scholarship awards worth one half (50%) of the annual fee rate. All research students will be eligible for consideration, overseas and home/EU students, applying for full-time or part-time study provided you have not already been awarded another scholarship equivalent to 50% or more of the annual fee rate. In addition to completion of the application form for a place to study, please also complete a separate scholarship request form which you can download from our website atwww.education.leeds.ac.uk/prospective/scholarships.php#researchor obtain from the School of Education Admissions Office by emailing courses@education.leeds.ac.uk.
  2. Awards will be made entirely on merit. For full-time students, awards will made each year for up to 3 years study and for part-time students for up to 5 years study.
  3. Receipt of the scholarship is conditional upon the successful candidate commencing their period of study by registering no later than 1 November in the year following the award. Scholarships may not be deferred to a later year of study.
  4. In addition, home/EU students awarded a School of Education Research Degree Scholarship will normally be expected to submit an application for an externally funded studentship (principally to ESRC or AHRC, though other funding bodies will be considered) which, if successful, will replace the School of Education’s scholarship. Candidates will be given full support in preparing their application to external funding bodies.
  5. A contribution towards research project costs is provided to all postgraduate research students in the School and not just scholarship holders.
  6. If you have not been contacted by the School of Education by July 1st 2010, you may assume you have not been awarded a Research Degree Scholarship for PGR study commencing in 2010/2011.
  7. If you are successful, you must confirm acceptance of your offer of a place on the doctoral programme and the scholarship award within 4 weeks of notification of the award otherwise the scholarship will be awarded to another candidate.
