Grants for Egyptians to Study in USA ? Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA)

Overview
The program strengthens foreign language instruction of Arabic in American institutions while providing Egyptian teachers of English as a second language (ESL), as well as teachers of American studies, literature, and journalism and media studies, with opportunities to refine their skills, increase their English language proficiency, and expand their knowledge of American society. FLTA fellows teach a maximum of two Arabic classes at host institutions. They enroll in at least four courses (two per semester), one of which must be in U.S. studies. They also facilitate cultural events, language clubs and language tables in their host.

Eligibility Criteria

· Teachers or teachers in training of English as a second language (ESL), or of American studies, literature, and journalism and media studies.

· Age between 21-29 years on October 1, 2010.

· Bachelors degree.

· Fluency in spoken and written English with a minimum Institutional TOEFL (Local ITP) score of 550, Computer-Based TOEFL (CBT) score of 213, Internet-based TOEFL (IBT) score of 79-80, or overall International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0. Introduction
This program provides an opportunity for graduate students to combine study and independent research in a variety of ways: to earn a Master degree; to take advanced courses; to practice teaching through an assistantship in a university; research outside a degree program allows a student to specialize in a particular area; to re-qualify in a different area; or to broaden an academic perspective.

How to Apply:

• 3 letters of recommendation,
• a copy of education diploma, class transcript and grades (for 4th and 6th year students copy of class records).

All forms in this application are to be completed in English and printed from a computer. The letters of recommendation should be written in English. If they are not, an English translation must be provided, preferably certified by the university’s International Studies/Relations section. Letters of recommendation (and translations) must be submitted by the persons filling out the recommendations in sealed envelopes to the Fulbright Office or to the applicant. Copies of your certified academic documents should be in Ukrainian. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

All applicants should submit hard copies of the application. All supporting documents (university transcripts, reference letters, work samples, other documents) should be mailed to Fulbright Office with the application. We also require applications to be sent to the Fulbright Office electronically.

The Fulbright Office in Kyiv will make all testing arrangements and cover all costs of the application, selection, and testing process (travel to and stay in Kyiv, exam fees, etc.). The Program will provide visa support for the grantees.

PhD Anniversary Studentship at Bangor University ? School of Law

Introduction
As part of our recent 125th anniversary celebrations, Bangor University launched a five year programme of postgraduate expansion. As part of this expansion, the School of Law is inviting applications for one Anniversary Studentship.

This provides three years of support for full-time PhD study.

Value of this scholarship

Each holder of a PhD studentship receives an annual maintenance grant of £13,000 (for 2010/11). For the following two years (2011/12; 2012/13)the core grant will rise in line with inflation. PhD studentship holders also receive an annual research allowance of up to £1,500 (for approved expenditure). Studentship holders do not pay fees. No additional allowances are payable.

Successful studentship applicants will beexpected to supply around 100 hours per year of teaching/research assistance focused on a supervisor / research team as part of their development as an academic of the future.

Candidate Selection

Financial Aid for African Students: Fulbright African Research Scholar Program (FARSP) 2011-2012

We are now open for the 2011-2012 Fulbright African Research Scholar Program (FARSP)Two categories of grants are offered in the FARSP: research grants and program and curriculum development grants.
Research Grants:

Awards of 3 to 9 months are offered for African university faculty or research institute professionals to conduct research in any academic discipline at a U.S. academic or research institution beginning no earlier than August 2010 and no later than March 2011. Preference will be given to individuals with a doctorate degree, at least three years of university teaching experience and a productive scholarly record, and whose projects relate directly to their ongoing teaching and/or research responsibilities. Length of grants is determined by research requirements as demonstrated in the proposal.

Program and Curriculum Development Grants:

Awards of 3 to 5 months are offered for African university faculty or administrators to conduct research in any academic discipline at a U.S. academic or research institution beginning no earlier than August 2010 and no later than March 2011. Proposals should be linked to professional duties and demonstrate how the scholar will use the knowledge gained to develop new courses, curricula, or programs at the home institution. These grants are designed for less experienced scholars who have not had access to current research or instructional developments in their disciplines. University faculty who do not hold doctorate degrees are eligible for awards in this category, but need strong letters of reference or invitation to convince the academic review panel to nominate them for awards. Length of grants is determined by research requirements as demonstrated in the proposal.

HIV/AIDS:

The ARSP includes a special set of grants for scholars with proposals in HIV/AIDS-related research. Scholars in all academic disciplines are invited to formulate proposals with an HIV/AIDS focus. Candidates may apply either as research scholars or as program and curriculum development scholars.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON ELIGIBILITY:

- Applicants must be citizens of the country from which they apply or permanent residents qualified to hold a valid passport issued by that country.
- Applicants must not have received a Fulbright grant for study, teaching, or research in the U.S. within the last five years.
- Preference will be given to individuals who have had no experience or only limited experience in the United States.
- Proposals involving doctoral dissertation research, postdoctoral research immediately following completion of a doctoral degree, or general professional travel, are ineligible.
- Proposals for clinical medical research involving physician training, patient care and contact cannot be approved under the Fulbright Program.
- Applicants must have sufficient English proficiency to carry out their research projects and collaborate effectively with colleagues. TOEFL exams are not required to evaluate applicants’ language skills.
- Applicants must be in good health. Successful candidates will be asked to submit a Medical History and Examination Report.
- Scholars who were unsuccessful in previous competitions may re-apply. Repeat applicants should revise their proposals, update curriculum vitae, and obtain current letters of reference.

Scholars must indicate the type of grant for which they are applying (research or program and curriculum development).

Letters of invitation or identification of potential host colleagues or institutions may be part of an application, but they are not required. Applicants are discouraged from requesting affiliation with an alma mater. The Fulbright Program enables scholars to broaden their professional contacts as well as their understanding of the diversity of U.S. academic programs in their disciplines. Laboratory fees are not part of the standard benefits package for the ARSP and are awarded on a limited case-by-case basis only if funding is available.

New Zealand Development Scholarships For Micronesia Region

New Zealand Development Scholarships aim to strengthen human resource capacity by providing knowledge, skills and qualifications in key socio-economic areas, with the objective of strengthening the ability for Pacific countries to meet their national development priorities.In the Pacific region, through the Open category of the New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS-Open) scheme, New Zealand offers development scholarships for full-time, multi-year tertiary study in New Zealand. Candidates apply directly to New Zealand education institutions (see Annex 1).

Eligibility

•Applicants must meet the following NZAID eligibility criteria before their application will be further considered against the selection criteria. Applicants must:
• be a citizen of their home country (i.e. permanent residents are not eligible to apply);
• be residing their home country, preferably for at least two years prior to application;
• not have citizenship or permanent residence status of New Zealand, Australia or another developed country;
• not be married or engaged to be married to a person who holds, or who is eligible to hold, citizenship or permanent residence status of New Zealand, Australia or another developed country;
• be aged 17 or over before the scholarship start date;
• be applying to commence a new qualification and not be seeking funding for a qualification already commenced in New Zealand or another country;
• not have completed, or nearly completed, a qualification at a similar level (i.e. applicants must apply for a higher level qualification than any previously attained), unless strong developmental relevance is demonstrated;
• satisfy the admission requirements of the New Zealand education institution at which the qualification is to be undertaken, including English language proficiency criteria;
• have been working in their home country, preferably for at least two years prior to application;
• have worked for two years in their home country since completing their highest tertiary qualification gained to date;
• be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to their home country’s public, private or civil society sector (as relevant), and to the development of their home country in general; and
• be able to take up the scholarship in the academic year for which it is offered.
Applicants cannot:
• be studying full-time at post-secondary level;
• be transferring from another scholarship (either in New Zealand or in another country) to a NZAID scholarship;
• hold, or have held, a New Zealand Government or Australian Government scholarship in the 24 months preceding the scholarship start date (12 months for Short Term Training Awards); or
• have been terminated from a New Zealand or Australian Government scholarship previously.
All applicants are expected to continue residing in their home country during the application and selection process. If offered a scholarship, candidates must:
• be able to satisfy Immigration New Zealand requirements for international student entry to New Zealand (i.e. medical checks and police clearance/character checks, etc);
• not hold another scholarship during the period of the NZAID scholarship; and • agree in writing that they will return to their home country for a minimum period of two years following completion of their scholarship in order to contribute to their country’s social or economic development.

Manmohan Singh Undergraduate Scholarship 2010/2011 University of Cambridge

Job Description: University of Cambridge Manmohan Singh Undergraduate Scholarships announced for 2010
Three outstanding students from Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai are destined to receive the 2010 Manmohan Singh Undergraduate Scholarship to fund their undergraduate studies at the University of Cambridge.

The Manmohan Singh Undergraduate Scholarship programme was established in 2009 in honour of India’s Prime Minister who graduated fromthe University of Cambridge with a First in Economics in the late 1950s, and who was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University in 2006. The Scholarship is awarded to students who have received an offer of a place at the University of Cambridge. Two of the three places offered by University of Cambridge are conditional on these students achieving specific grades.
The Scholarship programme will provide full funding, covering fees and means-tested maintenance for undergraduate study at the University of Cambridge, and was launched to provide financial assistance to exceptional students in India who would not otherwise be able to afford to go to Cambridge.
The Manmohan Singh Undergraduate Scholarships will be awarded to Neal Duggal from Mallya Aditi International School, Bangalore, Jesika Haria from Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, and Rudrajit Banerjee from The Cambridge School, Kolkata. Neal Duggal and Jesika Haria have received conditional offers of places to St John’s College and Emmanuel College,Cambridge , to study for degrees in Economics and Engineering respectively, while Rudrajit Banerjee has received an unconditional offer to study Natural Sciences at Christ’s College,Cambridge.
All three students received Cambridge Outstanding Achiever Awards in 2008 from University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for their exceptional performance in their examinations. Neal Duggal won the Top in India award for Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry; Jesika Haria came Top in India for her performance across six Cambridge IGCSE subjects, and also won awards for Cambridge IGCSE Literature (English), Foreign Language French, Additional Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics; Rudrajit Banerjee won the Topin India award for Cambridge International A Level Physics.
More than 200 schools in India currently offer Cambridge international examinations, including Cambridge IGCSEs and Cambridge International A Levels.

COnditiOnS OF entRy
Students who meet the scholarship eligibility criteria and ICHM entry requirements can apply for a scholarship. Students who have already applied and
been accepted by ICHM for these intakes may also apply by completing the Scholarship Application form.
ICHM has two intakes in 2011. We reserve the right to request winners to commence in the July 2011 intake, unless the applicant has been accepted
into the January intake by scholarship closing date.
ICHM reserves the right to reduce the value of scholarships if there are less than ten applicants in Australia.
The tuition fees for Australian students starting in 2011 are A$23,050. The 2011 cost for Accommodation & Meals at ICHM is $7,850 (approx.), payable
during on-campus semesters and subject to availability. These scholarships can be applied to the tuition fees or the accommodation fees.
ICHM has been approved by the Australian Government as a VET FEE-HELP and FEE-HELP provider. This allows students to borrow money from the
Government to fund their studies at ICHM; it is only available to Australian citizens. For more information please follow the links on the ICHM website.
The A$50 Scholarship Application Fee is non-refundable, this applies to successful and unsuccessful applicants. It is also not considered as part of the
Course Fees.
The scholarship amount will be credited against the final fee payment each year.
The Selection Panel may decide to increase the number of scholarship winners by reducing the scholarship amount.
Payment of the scholarship amount on behalf of the student for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of the course will be dependent upon satisfactory academic
results and industry placement performance as determined by the ICHM Academic Board.
The awarding of the Scholarship payment each year depends on the student paying the balance of the student fees by the due date as set out in the
Application Form contained in the prospectus. Students failing to pay the balance of fees by the due date will forfeit the right to their scholarship.
The Scholarships are open to new first year students only. Students currently studying at ICHM are ineligible.
Scholarship students failing to comply with the ICHM rules and regulations in relation to personal and ethical behaviour will forfeit their entitlement to
the scholarship.

Women?s Research & Education Institue (WREI) Congressional Fellows on Women and Public Policy, USA

WREI awards annual fellowships to a select number of graduate students with a proven commitment to equity for women. WREI Fellows gain practical policymaking experience and graduate credit as they work from January to August as Congressional legislative aides in Washington, D.C. Fellows receive stipends for tuition and living expenses.

Established in 1980, the WREI Fellowship program is designed to:

encourage more effective participation by women in the formulation of policy options
promote activities that encourage the translation of research into policy
raise awareness that national and international issues concerning women are interdependent
foster better understanding of how policies affect women and men differently
gain greater appreciation of the fact that issues often defined as “women’s issues” are really of equal importance to men.
Fellows are selected on the basis of academic competence as well as their demonstrated interest in the public policy process. They are expected to be articulate, adaptable and to have strong writing skills. Only students who are currently in, or have recently completed, a graduate or professional-degree program at an accredited institution in the United States are eligible.
