COTRUGLI Business School, as the fastest growing international business school in SE Europe, is awarding 6 scholarships for MBA program to Croatian citizens.

The scholarship project evolves as a part of COTRUGLI’s Social Responsibility Program, created to encourage positive changes within the SEE region. The scholarships valued at more than 300.000 HRK will be granted to the applicants, who are most likely to contribute to the growth of COTRUGLI in this region.

MBA Scholarship applying requirements:

• Undergraduate degree
• Solid knowledge of English
• Minimal 1 year of work experience

In order to be considered eligible MBA participants, applied candidates have to successfully pass trough the Application Process. Scholarships will be granted to the most successful candidates during the selection process.

Once they apply for the selection process, candidates agree that the materials taken during the process can be used for advertising purposes of COTRUGLI and that they give up all rights related to them. COTRUGLI’s policy is not to publish any kind of information regarding the status of applied candidates. Application Process
Application process shall consist of 2 rounds:

• Once they apply, all candidates will receive an Application Form, which needs to be filled out in English and submitted until April 13, 2009 (by midnight).

ROUND 2 - Selection Finals: April 25, 2009
COTRUGLI will select candidates, who will be informed about entering the final round of selection process not later than April 20, 2009.

Second round of the selection process will be held on April 25 in Zagreb. The aim of this final round is to select scholarship winners.

It is not easy to be a true leader; therefore, the selection process will not be easy either. Second round of the selection process will consist of individual tests and group assignments. The whole process will last 10 hours.

Winner Selection
According to the evaluation of each candidate’s professional and individual achievements and impressions gathered during the whole selection process, the special commission will select 6 candidates. They will receive scholarships and become participants of COTRUGLI MBA generation 2010.

Candidates will be informed about the results of the selection process not later than April 30, 2008.

At the end of the process, after scholarship winners have been selected, in the random manner only 1 of them will win a full MBA scholarship (12.000 €). The other candidates will receive partial scholarships for the MBA program (6.000 €).

COTRUGLI will grant five (5) partial MBA scholarships, each worth 6.000 €, and one (1) full scholarship worth 12.000 €.

Partial scholarship winners are obliged to cover the difference in price between a partial and full scholarship; that is the additional amount up to the entire price of MBA program. The price of MBA program is 12 000 €.

All candidates who successfully complete the scholarship process and the enrolment process before June 1st, 2009 are entitled to 30% discount on the regular price of the MBA program.

MSc Program

Background
Systems Biology is the new science that aims at understanding how living organisms function in health and fail in disease. The new insight is that the important properties of life arise in interactions between individuals, from individual molecules, through individual cells, through organs. The new point in history is that experimental methodology is now available to look at virtually all molecules and other components of living cells. Using modern mathematics and bioinformatics to make computer models of what happens in and with living organisms, Systems Biology seeks to understand how molecules are guided to self-organise into complex processes such as the cell cycle, reproduction, adaptation to a variety of challenges, and the formation of complex structures (www.mcisb.org)Both academia and the biotechnological and pharmaceutical industry have realised that the vast amounts of information about individual molecules offered by genomics can only be put to use and lead to understanding through Systems Biology.

Following substantial investments in the new Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre (MIB, www.mib.ac.uk), the Manchester Centre of Integrative Systems Biology (MCISB, www.mcisb.org), and the AstraZeneca Chair of Systems Biology, the University of Manchester houses a doctoral training centre for Integrated Systems Biology. Inspired by the top scientists in Systems Biology, students with a physical science/engineering/mathematics background will be teamed up with students from biological and medical backgrounds. Candidates from both backgrounds are invited to apply. They will engage in extensive training, both experimental and theoretical, in Systems Biology within the MIB and in partner groups all over the world.

[Belgium] Postgraduate Specialisation Scholarship

The Flemish Community of Belgium is offering three Specialisation Scholarships to Irish students for the academic year 2009/2010.

The following terms apply:

• The scholarship is open to Postgraduates.
• A monthly payment €840 (including registration fees and insurance) during the term of the Specialisation Scholarship.
• Candidates must be postgraduate students and no older than 35 years (holders a PH.D.-diploma cannot apply as they no longer qualify for student status in Flanders)
• Candidates will need to fill out the attached application forms (in duplicate) and specify the institution they wish to attend. Correspondence with the preferred institution may also be attached.

[Denmark] Phd Scholarship in Aarhus University

Department of Management at Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University, is advertising a PhD fellowship available as at 1 July 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Centre for Design of Global Enterprise (DoGE) at the Department of Management invites applicants for a position as PhD scholar by 1 June. The position is linked to a multidisciplinary research project entitled “Made in Denmark 2050 – The role of firms in globalisation”, concerning the export success factors of Danish companies. The research project is carried out in collaboration with the GlobID research centre at the Department of Economics and is funded by The Tuborg Foundation.

The PhD student will be joining an international network of experienced researchers from Economics and International Business Studies, and is expected to partake in large scale data analysis, statistics/econometric investigations as well as in writing of academic articles and communication of research results. A successful applicant must be willing to acquire a basic knowledge of Danish during the early period of the PhD position.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong interest and preferably prior knowledge in both applied statistics/micro-econometrics as well as in organizational design and strategy.

PhD students in Denmark work under very favourable terms: They are employed on a full-time basis for three years, and the salary is enough to cover all necessary accommodation and living costs and to lead an active life. A PhD student does not pay university fees.

PhD students at Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus (ASB), work under almost the same terms as other research staff, i.e. they have their own office space with a computer, incl. Internet access, email, phone etc., as well as access to secretarial assistance etc. Moreover, expenses in connection with the scientific work are covered, e.g. participation in research courses and academic conferences in Denmark and abroad.

There are also good and well-paid job opportunities in Denmark for people with a PhD degree, both within and outside the university sector.

A PhD student in Denmark must complete an individually planned PhD course programme within the relevant research area and conduct a research project under the supervision of experienced senior researchers. The PhD student is also expected, as part of the programme, to spend some time (up to six months), with coverage of travel and accommodation expenses, at another – often foreign – research institution. During the programme, the PhD student is further expected to gain teaching experience within the subject area as well as experience with other forms of dissemination of research results. ASB also finances participation in relevant PhD courses and scientific conferences. In addition, it is expected that PhD students participate in and contribute to the other activities of the department.

Conditions of employment
The PhD fellowship has duration of three years. Graduates and students expecting to complete their study programme in the near future may apply for the fellowship. The employment is covered by a national collective agreement.

[USA] GOAA Paleologos Graduate Scholarship 2009-2010

GOAA 2009-2010 Paleologos Graduate Scholarship Applications Available

Applications are now available for the 2009-2010 Paleologos Graduate Scholarship. At least one scholarship of $10,000 per academic year will be awarded to help graduate students defray the costs of tuition, room and board, and other expenses related to obtaining a degree.

Candidates must be Orthodox Christian students within a jurisdiction of SCOBA (Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas), U.S. citizens (or permanent residents) and either beginning their graduate studies or continuing their graduate studies in the 2009-2010 academic year. Students receiving a full scholarship from any other source or a partial scholarship exceeding fifty percent (50%) of their tuition are ineligible.

Candidates must also prepare a scholarship proposal (2-3 pages) describing how their current studies allow them to employ their talents, and how being awarded this scholarship would help them use these talents to serve the Church or community at large.

[Italy] Graduate Scholarship MIREES - University of Bologna

This program was launched some years ago by the University of Bologna, Italy; it is taught entirely in English (120 ECTS) and provides a joint diploma of the Universities of Bologna, Ljubljana, Vytautas Magnus University at Kaunas, Corvinus University of Budapest and, from the next Academic Year 2009-2010, the State University of St Petersburg. MIREES students will spend the first year in Forlì (one of the five campuses of the University of Bologna), while in the second year a minimum of 5 months will be spent at Partner Universities and, in particular cases, at MIREES Associated Universities in the Balkans. A mobility grant is offered to all enrolled students.

The program is especially recommended for prospective PhD students. Our best alumni are currently attending doctorate programs at the Universities of Oxford, Kent, the New School in New York and other prestigious international academic institutions. Moreover, the program is designed to forge analysts, area experts, consultants and mediators, to meet the needs of research institutes, the European Commission, international agencies, voluntary organizations and NGO’s, public administration, managers, corporations and banks located in East-Central Europe and the Balkans or promoting investments in these regions. Most of our alumni have found employment precisely in these fields.

The MIREES program offers specialized, in-depth knowledge of the post-socialist countries in transition, the new EU member states, and the new East-European neighbour countries to students with a BA in Economics, Politics, International Relations, History, Languages (and Slavic languages in particular), agricultural studies and cultural studies generally.

The program aims at developing language skills. MIREES offers courses in Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, Bulgarian, basic and advanced Russian, and Slovak (Hungarian and Lithuanian are also available in the 2nd year) as well as Italian for foreigners as an additional option. The curriculum stresses interdisciplinary studies in the economics of transition; politics and international relations; media studies; and history and cultural studies focused on Central, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Thirdly, the international dimension of the program is enhanced through student mobility, by an international faculty composed of prominent scholars of international repute, and a genuinely international student body. (In the previous five cycles we enrolled students from 21 countries including the US, Mexico, Russia, Georgia, Estonia, Macedonia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Albania, Poland, Armenia, Norway, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and, of course, Italy).
