The HumanIT centre focuses on two main areas of human aspects on ICT: the role of IT in international development, and privacy and surveillance in the digital age. The vacant position concerns the second area. In this area, HumanIT has for many years pursued interdisciplinary research in national and international projects to which researchers from computer science, information systems, media and communication studies, and psychology have contributed. Now, the growing department of Law at Karlstad University will actively engage in this development and we are looking for a dedicated legal scholar who wants to push the research frontier together with us.
General requirements: Qualified for this position are candidates who have the Swedish degree of Master of Laws Degree (LL.M, Juristexamen) or equivalent qualifications from abroad.
Special consideration will be given to: studies or work experience from security or privacy issues relating to mobile applications, "ubiquitous computing", web applications, Internet banking, as well as from studies or work experience from issues of legal requirements, usability, and laymen understanding of the technologies just mentioned.
Admission: On the basis of individual assessment of the candidates' abilities to successfully complete the doctoral programme at Stockholm University's department for Law. The earliest date for filling the position is the 1st July 2010. The position is limited to 4 years, but can be prolonged for up to one year if the PhD student takes on duties beyond the doctoral studies, such as other research, teaching, or administration. These duties must not exceed 20% of the full-time doctoral student position.
