Scottish Universities Physics Alliance - SUPA + over 100 other funded PhD places in physics in Scotland The Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA) opens a single door into all physics PhDs in Scotland. When you apply for a SUPA Prize PhD Studentship you will also be considered for all other funded places available in physics departments in Scotland. Major themes pursued by researchers in SUPA are: astronomy and space condensed matter and material physics nuclear and plasma physics particle physics photonics physics and life sciences UK, EU and overseas students are invited to apply for fifteen fully funded SUPA studentships and more than 100 other funded PhD places in physics in Scotland for 2010. SUPA Prize Studentships SUPA is offering fifteen fully funded PhD studentships for outstanding students from the UK, the EU and overseas. These prestigious and competitive awards are intended to attract top students from around the country and around the world to study for a PhD in Scotland. SUPA Prize Students are registered for a PhD in physics at one of the participating universities: University of Aberdeen University of Dundee University of Edinburgh Heriot-Watt University University of Glasgow University of St Andrews University of Strathclyde University of the West of Scotland The considerable physics expertise within Scotland is made available to PhD students through the excellent training environment of the SUPA Graduate School, which uses: video links between dedicated teaching rooms computer mediated resources and tools practical activities (e.g., programming labs) tutorials and discussion classes lectures by distinguished visitors summer schools collaborations with major research facilities knowledge transfer opportunities entrepreneurship training All physics PhD students in Scotland are considered SUPA Graduate School students and are eligible to attend all educational and training activities.
