Studying the mechanisms of action of anti-cancer drugs on the kinetics of DNA replication The ideal candidate will have: About Genomic Vision: Contact:
Eukaryotic cells replicate their DNA from hundreds to thousands of chromosomal sites
termed replication initiation sites or replication origins. Initiation of DNAreplication involves
interactions between these replication origins and a network of cell cycle regulatory proteins. Several
types of anti-cancer drugs (and its candidates) act as an inhibitor of DNAreplication.
We are looking for a Ph.D student to study the effect of anti-cancer drug on DNA replication
program using our single molecule approach. DNA replication analysis with molecular combing
(Replication Combing Assay, RCA) is a direct method to monitor the effect of chemicals compounds
on the kinetic of DNA replication. This project is a part of an interdisciplinary training network called
“Image DDR (High Resolution Microscopy in the DNA damage response)” and supported by the
Commission of the European Communities. The appointee will therefore have opportunities to learn
live cell imaging, high-resolution microscopy and other techniques through an interdisciplinary
training approach that includes specially designed summer schools, workshops and meetings
encompassing all network participants.
- A Master’s Degree in Engineering (biochemical, biophysical), molecular or cellular
biology with relevant laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of English is essential
- A strong motivation and a proven ability through experience in academic or industrial
research environment
- Excellent organization expertise.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent team player skills and be a highly proactive person, who takes initiative and
who interacts constructively with other group members.
Ideally these skills will be complemented by one of the following:
- Research-level knowledge of DNA replication/cell cycle regulation
- Genomics Imaging of single molecule of biological sample
Genomic Vision is a start-up company, located in Paris, developing novel diagnostic and drug
discovery solutions based on its world-leading nanotechnology for DNAanalysis: Molecular Combing.
Molecular combing technology allows fixing high molecular weight DNAmolecules uniformly on a
solid support with constant stretching factor, to form an array of fibers. Immunodetection of
pre-incorporated and hybridized probes on stretched DNA can directly visualize genomic content.
Genomic Vision holds strong relationship with top-institutes such as Pasteur Institute, Curie institute,
ENS, etc. through this technology.
