About AUT:
Auckland Technical School opens in a former cabinetmaking factory in Rutland Street with 137 students enrolled for night classes in vocational education and the trades.
Detail:
To recognise and encourage a student, who is having academic success and making a positive contribution to his/her community, to study at honours or masters level at AUT
Eligibility: Applicants must:
•Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
•Have completed a Bachelor’s programme at AUT or be enrolled in his/her final year of a Bachelor’s programme at AUT
•Be eligible to enrol in honours or masters at AUT
•Demonstrate academic achievement
•Demonstrate positive contribution to his/her community
Application Requirements: Applicants are required to provide:
•AUT University Scholarship Application Form
•Proof of citizenship or permanent residency
•Proof of enrolment at AUT in the final year of a Bachelor’s programme
•Proof of eligibility to enrol in honours or masters at AUT
•Academic transcript
•Academic referee
•An outline of their community contribution and/or activities
•Reference(s) from person(s) of standing in area of community involvement, who will attest the community contribution
Selection Process:
•A Panel (to be appointed by the Secretary of AUT Foundation) will shortlist three applicants and submit their recommendation to the AUT Foundation Board of Trustees by 24 June 2010
•The shortlist and recommendation will be based on the selection criteria and satisfaction of the application requirements set out above
•The Board of Trustees will select and approve the successful applicant in its July 2010 meeting and advise the AUT Scholarships Office accordingly
•The decision of the Board of Trustees will be final
Conditions of Acceptance:
•The successful applicant must enrol in an honours or masters programme at AUT
•This scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other fees scholarship. The recipient may hold additional non-tuition fee based scholarships with the approval of the AUT Foundation Board of Trustees.
Tenure:
•The tenure is for one year, with no renewal
Amount and Type of Award: The scholarship covers the following
•One year of tuition at honours or masters level (excluding Master of Business Administration)
•The scholarship does not include the Students’ Association fee or student services fees
Closing Date: Second Friday of October each year
